William M. Gagan 
January 17, 1944 ~ January 31, 2009

William M. Gagan, a retired Funeral Director with the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. in Pine Bush, and longtime resident of the area passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side on Saturday January 31, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with Melanoma. He was 65.

The son of the late Michael W. Gagan and Mary A. O’Brien Gagan, he was born on January 17, 1944 in New York City. Bill was a member of the Church of the Infant Saviour and acted recently as Trustee of the Church. He was a past President of the Parish Council and also a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society of the Church, a member of the Pine Bush Lions Club and also past president of the organization, a former trustee of the Town of Crawford Free Library and former member and secretary of the Board of Trustees of the New Prospect Cemetery Association. Bill was also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Middletown Council #5329, 4th Degree and former treasurer, secretary and color guard for the organization. Bill was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Middletown and Pine Bush Community Health Centers and was the recipient of the 2007 Pine Bush High School Principals Award.

A family statement reads:” Bill was a very caring person, always helping people in need. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend.” Survivors include his beloved wife Toni at home, his loving daughter, Colleen Gossman of Goshen, NY, his loving sons, Sean P. Gagan of Bloomingburg, NY and Michael D. Gagan of San Diego, California, 1 beloved grandson Chase Alexander Gossman of Goshen, NY , 1 beloved sister Noreen (Renee) Shafer and her husband Michael of the Villages, Florida. Bill is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Bill is predeceased by his sisters Patricia Stuber, and Mary Ann Tapley, and her husband Lloyd.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 4, 2009 from 1-3 & 7-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd, Pine Bush, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday February 5, 2009 at 10:00am at the Church of the Infant Saviour, Rte 302 Pine Bush, NY. Burial will take place in the family plot in New Prospect Cemetery.
