FRANCIS R. “FRANKO” CALLAHAN Pine Bush, NY Francis Callahan, 77 of Pine Bush, NY and Davie, FL passed away peacefully March 21, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on August 20, 1938 to Francis A. and Marie Richard Callahan in Cornwall, NY. Francis (aka as Franko) graduated from Cornwall Central High School, Braden’s Preparatory School and Northeastern University, in Boston with Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He worked for Chester Cable, as a Production Manager for 30 years and after his retirement, he and his wife, Carole, enjoyed many years of warmth and sunshine in their home in Florida. Franko was a Life Member at the Newburgh Yacht Club. Being an avid boater, he made seven trips from the Newburgh Yacht Club to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. A few trips included his mother-in-law, Dottie, coming along for the ride. All three of them would enjoy reading books together and taking their time riding along the Intra Coastal Waterway. He loved to tell stories about all the adventures he had with his buddies at the Newburgh Yacht Club, he was loved by all that knew him. Who could resist his Hollywood good looks and infectious smile? Francis is survived by his daughter, Tracy Griffin and her fiancé John Chessari at home; grandson, Michael Griffin and his wife Ashley of Pasadena, MD; great-granddaughters, Coraline and Ella Griffin of Pasadena, MD; sister, Shirley Dillon of Framingham, MA; sister, Betty Lou Campbell of Marietta, GA; brother George Callahan and his wife Peggy of Cornwall-on-Hudson; brother, Arthur Callahan and his wife Holly of Indianapolis, IN; sisters-in law, Ronnie and Leslie Borden of Walden, NY; brother-in law, David Borden of Bloomingburg; many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Willy and grandpup Winchester. Franko was predeceased by his wife, Carole Callahan, parents Francis and Marie Callahan, mother-in law, Dorothy Borden and son-in-law, Robert Griffin. A special heart felt thank you to John, Carrie, Jeanie and Mike, the “Home Team”, for the selfless attention to making Franko comfortable and happy during the final chapter of his life. We never could have kept him home safely without you. Thank you to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties. Adria, Amanda and Dr. Dinsmore, you are truly an amazing group of people, you make a difficult situation easier and we admire you for all that you do. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9pm on Monday March 28, 2016 at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY, 12566. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 29 at 9:30 am at the Church of the Infant Saviour, 22 Holland Avenue in Pine Bush, NY. Military Honors and Flag presentation will be held immediately after the Mass. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory.
