Robert G. Grottolo Pine Bush, NY Robert Grottolo's ship sailed peacefully into the dawn on May 17, 2016. Bob was born in 1924 in New York City to Robert and Josephine Grottolo. After working at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome NY as an aircraft engine mechanic, he served during World War II as a Gunner's mate in the United States Navy, on the USS Brooklyn, a light cruiser. He participated in four invasions, North Africa, Italy, Sicily, and France. On September 29, 1946 he married his childhood sweetheart, Jennie. Bob had a 40-year career with Con Ed, retiring in 1986 from the Power Generation Maintenance division in the Bronx. He was a member of the Yorktown Elks Club for many years. He and Jennie moved from Yorktown Heights, NY to Spring Hill, FL in 1989, where he enjoyed golfing daily. He was predeceased by his loving wife Jennie in 2013, and sister Josephine Galati in 2006. He is survived by his three children, Robert D. Grottolo (Elizabeth) of Jacksonville, FL; Carol A. Jorgenson-Roach (Brian) of Redwood City, CA; Anne M. O’Dell of Pine Bush, NY; and two grandchildren, Alexis and Bianca Grottolo, as well as his sister Jeanette Pelillo and niece Eva of North Fort Myers, FL. He was loved by many and his war stories will be missed by all. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 22 from 2 to 5pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home in Pine Bush. Mass will be held on Monday, May 23, 10 am at the Church of the Infant Savior in Pine Bush, followed by burial at the Orange County Veterans' Cemetery in Goshen, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Arthritis Foundation, 1330 West Peachtree St., Atlanta, GA 30309. Arrangements entrusted to the William M.
