Henry Carr Bloomingburg, NY Henry Carr , a longtime resident of the area, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017, at his home. He was 91.The youngest son of the late William Carr and Mary Toner Carr, he was born in Bay Ridge Brooklyn on April 16, 1925. Henry served in the United States Army in World War II from 1943 through 1951 in New Guinea. He achieved the rank of Staff Sargent , took pride in his military service and often reminisced to all that would listen. Henry was an architectural draftsman, specializing in the design of dental offices. He designed many of the dental offices in our immediate area and throughout the Tri-State region. He retired from work in 1990. An avid baseball fan, he enjoyed watching his favorite team the New York Mets play ball starting from their inaugural season. He was looking forward to this year’s season saying only recently, and truly believing, ‘This is their year.” Henry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was always involved with his children and grandchildren, taking them to their hockey, baseball and football events. Henry was the proud grandfather sitting in the hockey stands at the 6 AM practices when that time-slot was a bit too early for the parent’s attendance. His family was everything to him. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years Joan Marie Peterson, his four children: Greg Carr and his wife Donna, Deborah Azierski and her husband Ed, Patrick Carr and his wife Deborah and Dcn. Jack Carr and his wife Jennifer. He was affectionately known as “Papa” to his many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved very much: Katie VanSyckle, Steve Boylan, Matthew Boylan, Julie Dickson, Nick Azierski, Chris Carr, Greg Carr, Tim Carr, Tyler VanSyckle, Logan VanSyckle, Caiden Boylan. He was predeceased by his brother William Carr. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 pm on Thursday February 23rd at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Rd, Pine Bush, NY. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Roch Ciandella officiating. Burial will take place with Full Military Honors in Bloomingburg Cemetery.
