Marjorie Ruth Clapp Redder Pine Bush, NY Marjorie C. Redder a retired Music Teacher for the Pine Bush Central School District and longtime resident of the area passed away on Thursday February 23, 2017 at the Golden Hill Nursing Center in Kingston. She was 93. The daughter of the late Dorothy Maney Tobias and William Mason Clapp, she was born on August 20, 1923 in Rochester, NY She graduated from Rochester West High in 1941 and continued to attend their reunions until well into her eighties. Marjorie then went on to Fredonia where she met her future husband, Frederick H. Redder. They were married on December 26, 1944 while he was home on leave from the Navy. After the war they returned to Fredonia where they lived in a Quonset hut with 2 other families. Marjorie moved to Pine Bush where she was hired to teach music, initially teaching K-12. She was very involved with the Orange County Music Educators Association and was one of the earliest members of the New York State Music Educators Association. Marjorie eventually rose to become a third Vice President and stayed active into her eighties. She was very active in her Church, Hopewell Presbyterian, serving as their Choir Director and Elder, the Orange County 4-H as a leader and on the Exec Board and served on the Town Council and the Library Board in the Town of Crawford. Survivors include her children; Karen Williams and her husband Robert, Christine Coapman and her husband Edgar, and Katherine Raponi. Grandchildren; Jason and his wife Heather, Keir and Aaron Williams, Lacey and Melanie Raponi and Ted Coapman, great grandchildren; Carrick, Kian, Finley, and Breen Williams. Marjorie is predeceased by her husband Fritz, her sister, Marion Lockwood and son in law James Raponi. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Hill Nursing home for their exceptional care of Mom. Friends and family may gather in memory on Friday March 3, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Road Pine Bush. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday March 4, 2017 at 10am at the Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Thompson Ridge. Interment of ashes will be held in the family plot at Hopewell Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Hopewell Presbyterian Church, PO Box 15, Thompson Ridge 10985 or to Families Assisting Music Education ( FAME) Pine Bush Central School District or to the Pine Bush Relay for Life.
