Joan C. Dobson Pine Bush, NY Joan Carol Dobson entered into eternal rest at her home in Pine Bush on Saturday, March 4, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old. Joan’s strength and courage during her steadfast battle with cancer was an inspiration to all who knew her. The daughter of the late Harry Reinig and Mabel Corrow Reinig, she was born on July 25, 1930 in the Bronx, NY. She married the love of her life, Harry “Sonny” Dobson, on December 15, 1951 at the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Bronx, NY. They were married for 57 years until he was laid to rest on September 7, 2008. Joan worked as a secretary and Administrative Assistant at Metropolitan Life and The Bank of New York for many years. Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She cherished family vacations, celebrations and holidays. Her other passions were traveling and boating. Following her retirement, Joan and Sonny traveled extensively across the country in their motor home. They enjoyed seeking new adventures and experiences. Joan and Sonny were long time members of the Newburgh Yacht Club. Joan shared her love of the Hudson River with her children, grandchildren and many friends at the club. She also enjoyed yoga and was an avid reader. She belonged to the Pine Bush Book Club and the Pine Bush Seniors. Joan was a member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church for many years and served as a church deacon. She enjoyed volunteering at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. Survivors include her loving daughter, Nancy Brohan and her husband Tim, and their four children Ryan, Shaun, Scott and Kelly. Robert Dobson and his two daughters Stephanie and Jessica. Ron Dobson and his wife Diane Burns-Dobson and their son Michael. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Harry “Sonny” Dobson, brother, Harry Reinig and parents Harry and Mabel Reinig. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 7-9pm on Tuesday March 7, 2017 at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Road Pine Bush, NY. Funeral services will follow the next day at 11am on Wednesday March 8, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Hopewell Cemetery in Thompson Ridge, NY. Memorial donations in Joan’s name can be made to the Hopewell Presbyterian Church or The American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the William M.
