Burney Redder, age 91, resident of the Town of Shawangunk, Ulster County, passed away at home, July 3, 2017. The son of the late Ludwig and Johanna Redder (Wolhberg). He was born at home on Redder Road, Crawford. He lived his entire life on the same piece of property, with the exception of the time he spent serving overseas. He was a proud World World II veteran, who served during the reconstruction phase. There, he received training how to operate heavy equipment; upon discharge, he used those skills to work for a local contractor for six years. After that, he began employment with IBM where he spent the next 37 years, retiring April 1990.
He was a longtime member and Elder at New Prospect Reformed Church, Pine Bush, but in recent years attended Shawangunk Reformed Church, Wallkill. He was a proud active member of the American Legion Post #1308 ,Pine Bush, NY and was recently honored for his 70 years of Legion membership. As a child, he attended a one room schoolhouse, district #7 for seven years. He then graduated from Pine Bush High School in 1943. Survivors include his wife Marilyn, of 64 years, son Bruce and wife Katy of Milton, NY, daughter Barbara Rhoads and husband Bryan of Pine Bush, NY, and his grandchildren Allison and her husband Ben Jones, of Yorktown Heights, NY and Andrea Rhoads of Boston, MA.  Also, niece Aline Glifort and husband Herbert of Harwich, MA, nephews Lawrence Haje and wife Romaine, of Barnegat, NJ, and Roy Haje and wife Carole of Southampton, NY. Also cousin  Lillian Knowles of Noank. CT. Burney was predeceased by his brothers Fred and Arthur Redder and sister Helen Haje.

Visitation will be held from 3-7pm on Thursday, July 6 2017 at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 7 at 11am at the funeral home. Burial in the family plot in the New Prospect cemetery immediately following.
