It is with great sadness that the family of Raul Vargas announces his passing after his long battle with fibrosis in his lungs, on Wednesday April 11, 2018, at the age of 61 years. The son of the late Jose Manuel Vargas and Francisca Segura Vargas, he was born on August 4, 1956 in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic. Raul was a very loving man, dedicated husband and father who loved to help others when help was needed. He was a hard working and dedicated Sanitation worker for the New York City Department Of Sanitation for over 23 years.  Raul volunteered at the World Trade Center site on 9/11 because helping others ,with the best of ability, was his passion. He will always be remembered as being kind, generous, humorous, and good hearted person  who was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Raul will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Barbara, at home, and  his children, Manuel, and Vanessa. He will also be fondly remembered by his brother in law Jose Alicea Jr. and father in law Jose Alicea, followed by his brother Louie, and sister Lucy and other extended family and dear friends whose heart Raul touched while being in this world. 2-4 & 7-9pm at the William M., Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd. Pine Bush, NY.  Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday April 18, 2018 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Robert B. Hewitt officiating.
