Douglas Gilbert Couser, “Gil” formerly of Pine Bush, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 28th, 2024 at his home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He was 83. The son of the late Douglas D. Couser and Katherine Leahy Couser, he was born on April 19, 1941 in Middletown, NY. Gil was a Pine Bush High School graduate. He was captain and MVP of the football team and played catcher for his baseball team. He earned his associates degree in agriculture from SUNY Cobleskill. Gil served on the board of directors for Agway and was also the treasurer for the Hopewell Cemetery for many years. Gil was a kind and friendly man with an infectious smile. You could always find him with a fork in his pocket, ready for any meal. He was a farmer his entire life and loved what he did. He was most proud of his family and loved them dearly.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years Alice, his beloved children Andrew of Kentucky; Janice (Bobby) of Bullville NY, and Scott, of Port St Lucie FL. His pride and joy were his granddaughters Jodi (Cody) of Pine Bush, Renee’ (Louie) of Westtown, and his great grandchildren Reid, Bailey, and Colt. Gil was predeceased by his parents Douglas & Katherine, his in laws- Alton & Isabelle Decker, his brother, Waldo Couser, and brother in laws Robert, John & William Decker. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Monday June 3rd at William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc, 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush NY. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday June 4th at 10 am.
