John J. Decker Sr. a life long resident of the area, passed away at Garnet Health Care in Middletown NY on February 24, 2025. He was 67. The son of the late Warren C. Decker and Rose M. Saltalamachia Decker, he was born on June 28,1957 at St. Lukes Hospital in Newburgh NY. John was a family man always working hard to provide an amazing life for his wife and children through hard work and self employment where he was able to have a very successful cleaning service. John leaves behind his Wife, Kim who he met while working in Highland Falls as a police officer and Kim was hitching a ride home that resulted in John and Kim tying the knot. John loved to serve his community and was always willing to help others in need. John had the best sense of humor that he passed down to his children. He wasn’t ever afraid to start a food fight in Ponderosa. John was a proud father to four children, Stewart also known as Bub, Johnny (John JR), Nicole, and Nicholas. John was also a proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren. He leaves behind Anthony, Gabriel, Savanah, Robert, Irelia, Angel-Marie, Callahan, Abby, Dean, Jaxon and Mekenna. John is survived by an older brother Michael and a baby brother Warren. John always made Warren aware that he was his baby brother.

John also leaves behind his step father Joseph Graziano, cousins and many dear friends.  John is welcomed into heaven by both of his parents with open arms. He loved to play his guitar, and enjoyed working on his model railroad that he created through out his basement. John turned half of the basement into his train room. He also was well versed in current events and kept up what was going on in the world. John in the hospital was not always accurate with the year but when you asked him who the president was he would say,”Trump,Trump,Trump.” Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 2-5pm  at William M Gagan  Funeral Home in Pine Bush NY. On Monday March 3, 2025 at 10am, John will have his final service before being laid to eternal rest in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor NY.
