James L. Owens Obituary

James L. Owens

Montgomery, NY

James " Jimmy" Owens passed away on Thursday March 6th 2025 at Westchester Medical Center, he was 65. Jimmy was born on September 23rd 1959 to the late James and Nora Owens. Jimmy met his wife Barbara in 1977 hanging out on the corner of Skillman Ave and 52nd st, and went on to get married in 1980. They then had their daughter Megan and son James and moved upstate.

Jimmy was a local 638 Steamfitter. He loved the job and always had a story about it. He would wake up in the morning and look at the Manhattan skyline on the news and always have a story or say “I worked on that building”.

Jimmy was the kindest man. Anything that someone needed he would not hesitate to do it. Even as his health deteriorated he would make phone calls to help whomever he could. He loved his family and he loved his grandkids more than anything.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, brother, children, grandchildren along with nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday March 15, 2025 at 10am at the Church of the Infant Saviour, 22 Holland Ave Pine Bush, NY. Inurnment of ashes will take place at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc.
