Our sincerest sympathy to Debbie, the Boys , Sera & the Mance Family. Les & I (Del) go way back, the “Pine Bush boys” always hung out at the Rec (my Dad owned & where we hold our auctions). He was like a big brother to me as teenagers, we both loved nature & one of my fondest memories is our love of the Shawangunk river flowing along our business, we would jump the rocks to see who could get to the other side without falling in, of course this is when the river was drier. It was a simple outdoor fun thing to do when life was much simpler. Later in life Les would attend our antique auctions and look for that “ whatcha ma call it” , we couldn’t figure out. We had a great time talking about these crazy things that actually had a purpose! We will miss your friendly face with that big smile. Rest in peace dear friend. Our thoughts & prayers are with the Mance Family.

When I was learning to drive, Les taught me how to drive a standard.. He also new My daughter, Michele, couldn't lead a calf in 4-H so he gave her a little lamb. Penelope brought her much happiness, and she got a Blue ribbon at the fair. He will be missed by many.

We will miss Uncle Les, his humanity, curiosity, laugh, and infectious spirit. I remember many Saturday mornings when Les would "swing by" Mountain Base to see what 'Swamp' and Martha were up to. He'd was quick to join in... and later enjoy Martha's soups.

I have very fond memories, from my early years, of deer hunting with Lester on Bald Ridge and surrounding Walker Valley lands. His skill, passion and dedication to the sport were only equaled by his commitment to Debbie and his family. His legend will carry on in our our branch of the family as well as in his.

I’m very sorry for your loss Deb. I always remember you referring to him as Mr. Mance. A wonderful memory I have is when you and I return from Italy as we got off the bus at the school, he greeted you with the bouquet of flowers. That’s a wonderful memory for you to cherish. Love Liz LaMontanaro from Liz’s place.

RIP Uncle Les
Lester was the ‘cool’ uncle back in the day. I learned from him that you could misbehave a little if you made amends, and you could be a little rowdy as long as you were responsible. It’s been 50 years, but I still have the tools he gave me for working on his pickup truck and chainsaw.
