Judith Marie Parsells
June 23, 1965 - June 16, 2025
It is with great sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Judith (Grossi Yannantuono) Parsells. Judy passed away Monday, June 16 at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan. Judy was 59 years old – 7 days shy of her 60th birthday – and was a fighter until the end. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed by her family and her many, many friends.
Judy leaves behind her beloved husband of 17 years Jeffrey Parsells of Pine Bush, son Bryan Yannantuono and wife Dennell Reynolds of Maryland, daughter Crystal Parsells of Pine Bush, son John Parsells of Tennessee, mother Lois Grossi of Pine Bush, brother Joseph Grossi of Montgomery, aunt Judy Tipton of Florida and Canada, uncle Jerry Miller of Pine Bush, and several cousins: Quentin Gillespie and wife Missy Gillespie of New Hampton, Kevin and wife Crystal Gillespie of Port Jervis, Valerie and husband Matt Law of Florida, Jerry and wife Sandra Miller of Ridgefield CT, Scott and wife Maiza Miller of New York City, and Jeff and wife Sam Miller of White Plains.
Judy lived an incredible life driven by service to her community and love of her family. She worked as accounts payable for the Pine Bush Central School District for over 30 years and she loved all the ladies she worked with. Judy was an active member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Coldenham Fire Department since 1988, holding numerous offices including president, secretary, and treasurer. She was also a 25-year active member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Pine Bush Hook and Ladder Company #1 where she held the offices of president and secretary for several years, provided support during fire calls, sat on the scholarship committee to support the next generation of leaders, and helped organize fundraisers such as her favorite Parties Galore Crafts and More! Judy was also a proud member of the of Pine Bush Hook and Ladder Company #1 and had previously served as an EMT for the Town of Montgomery Ambulance Corps in the 1990s.
Judy joined the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Orange County Volunteer Fireman's Association in 1993 and held several offices over the years including president and treasurer. She joined the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Hudson Valley Volunteer Firefighters’ Association and worked her way up to become president this year. This was something she looked forward to achieving and she had a lovely installation dinner.
Judy wrote the Pine Bush News column for the Wallkill Valley Times for many years after Aunt Helen Jurkowski stepped down. She was also a proud Avon lady, enjoyed a wonderful following, and traveled all over the U.S. going to Avon conventions and events. Additionally, Judy loved to go camping with her family. Earlier in life, she was a Gold Award Girl Scout and the 1976 Poppy Queen of the Pine Bush VFW.
Judy was a team leader for the Relay for Life cancer walks for many years in Pine Bush and cared deeply about giving back. In 2010, she was honored as one of the Orange County Women of Achievement for her lifetime of community service. Recently, Judy had organized a blood drive before entering the hospital, which was held on June 5 at the Pine Bush Fire House. With a great outpouring of love from the community, nearly 100 pints of blood were donated on Judy’s behalf to the New York Blood Center.
Most importantly, Judy was a beautiful, caring “what can I do for you” type of person – an angel – loved by all.
Services will be held on Wednesday, June 25 at the Pine Bush Fire House Social Hall (2405 Route 52). Visiting hours will be from 2 PM to 4 PM, as well as from 7 PM to 9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Pine Bush Fire Department, the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Pine Bush Hook and Ladder Company #1, or to the Melanoma Research Alliance.
May she be at peace with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Psalm 23.
