Virginia M. Davis Obituary

Virginia M. Davis, a beloved member of the Pine Bush community, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at the Montgomery Nursing Home in Montgomery, NY. She was 100 years old.

Born in Hawley, Pennsylvania, on September 7, 1925, Virginia was the daughter of Floyd and Margaret Lintner. Affectionately known as "Jinny" by her family and friends, she lived a long, joyful, and deeply meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Kenneth) Austin of Holland, Michigan, and Peggy (Lee) Hach of Pine Bush, New York. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul Davis, and their daughter, Bonnie. Jinny leaves behind a lasting legacy through her twelve grandchildren—Andy, Joshua, Leland, Benjamin, David, Jonathan, Seth, Jewel, Rose, Gretchen, Maya, and Jennie—as well as twenty-two great-grandchildren, with one more expected soon.

Jinny will be fondly remembered by many for her deep love of books. She served as the librarian in Wallkill from 1960 to 1970, where she inspired countless young readers and helped cultivate a lifelong love of learning in her community. Following her time as a librarian, she and her family ran their own store for 15 years—another chapter in her life marked by generosity, hard work, and a welcoming spirit.

A woman of strong Christian faith, Jinny's love for Jesus and for others was evident in every interaction. Whether offering a kind word, a helping hand, or a prayer, she lived out her beliefs with quiet strength and humility.

Jinny also had a passion for knitting, and her handmade mittens and socks became treasured gifts among her grandchildren and friends. Each stitch carried her warmth, care, and love.

In keeping with her wishes, a graveside service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Shawangunk Church, located at 1166 Hoagerburgh Road, Wallkill, NY 12589.

Her life was joyfully celebrated just weeks earlier, on August 30, when 90 friends and family members gathered to honor her with a shared meal and stories of love and laughter.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to organizations close to Jinny’s heart:

Bible League International

World Vision

International Fellowship of Christians and Jews

Or a charity of your choice

Jinny’s life was a testament to grace, kindness, and enduring faith. She will be deeply missed.
