Judith M. Haefeli

Judith M. Haefeli (Evans),  a resident of Walker Valley, NY passed away on October 23, 2025, at Garnet Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of Thomas J. and Margaret Evans (Manley), she was born on November 22, 1939, in New York, NY. She was 85 years old.  Judy married Donald A. Haefeli on January 25, 1958, in Middletown, NY.

She grew up in Inwood Hills, NY, moving to Middletown, NY as a teenager and settling in Walker Valley, NY in 1958. Judy worked for the NY State Police as a Communications Specialist and retired after 22 years. She had been a 4H leader and wonderful cake decorator and was famous for her cheesecake. After retiring, Judy reveled in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her children, Faith Lessard, A. J. Haefeli (Meg), Gloria Kessler (Karl), and Donna Freyman. Her grandchildren Bonnallie Griffin (Joe), Josh Lessard, Erik Forseth, Keith Forseth (Candace), Carly Haefeli, Erin Haefeli (Avery Boyce), Sarah Kessler (Brendan Snell), Mckenzie Kessler, Grace and Hope Delgado. Her great-grandchildren David, Ben and Maggie Lessard and Thomas (Deanne), Kelsey (DJ) and Matthew Griffin.  Her special nephew and niece Lance McCoy, Heather Delgado (Milton),  and extended family George Ewings, Jean Swan and Julie & Pete Szulewski. She will be missed by all who knew her.  Judy was predeceased by her loving husband Don, her parents, her sisters Barbara Loomis, Joan Freyman, Arlene McCoy and grandson David C. Lessard. She loved spending time with her family and was our supreme matriarch, and each family members biggest supporter. Judy was a force to be reckoned with, her biggest sentiment was to always try to be kind, and to be good to one another as you never know what another person is going through. We’d like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the medical staff at Garnet Medical Center for caring for mom and supporting our family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday November 1, 2025 from 12pm-4pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush, NY. A Celebration of Judy’s life will begin at 3:30pm at the funeral home.  For Judy’s visitation and service we invite anyone that is able, to please wear attire in shades of blue or anything that is colorful to honor her. 

Her ashes will be spread at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, your local Hospice organization or Humane Society.
