Donald B. Thorn of Thompson Ridge, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026 in Montgomery. He was 87 years old. The son of the late John E. Thorn (Jack) and Myrtle R. Thorn, he was born on March 5, 1938 in Middletown NY.  Don was a retired dairy farmer, former member of the Dairyman's League, former director of Downstate milk, Co-op Committee man for Agway, Past Fire Chief for Pine Bush Fire Dept., past Commissioner for Pine Bush Fire Dept., and past Commissioner for the Town of Crawford Police Department. He was known for being on his John Deere 4020 tractor doing fieldwork, and he enjoyed helping and advising others. Don also enjoyed going to dirt car races to watch his favorite driver Danny (The Doctor) Johnson and hunting with his friends on the farm.  He was pre-deceased by his  sister, Carol Menendez and daughter in law, Christine Thorn. Don is  survived by Thelma Faye Thorn, his wife of 64 years, sons, Donald Thorn, James and Nancy Thorn, grandsons, John, Donnie, Jacob and Colin, great granddaughter Savanna Thorn, sister, Marion Wilson, and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 4, 2026 from 5-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd. Pine Bush, NY. Funeral services will be offered on Thursday February 5, 2026 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Howard Dalton officiating.
