Patricia "Pat" Ann Finn Obituary
Patricia “Pat”Ann Finn
Pine Bush, NY
Patricia “Pat” Ann Finn (née Battle), a beloved fixture of the Pine Bush community and a woman who was truly a "force to be reckoned with," passed on April 8, 2026. She was 83 years old. Born on April 29, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Bridget and Martin Battle, Pat’s life changed forever when she married her long-time husband and best friend, Jim Finn.
On May 24, 1969, the couple moved to Pine Bush, where they built a life defined by service, sports, and an open-door policy for anyone in need of a friend. Pat’s professional life was marked by her dedication and her love for people. After 20 years as a secretary for Wicke’s Lumber, she spent over a decade behind the wheel as a bus driver for First Student. She had a special place in her heart for the students with special needs on her route, making it her mission to ensure every child felt safe, seen, and loved the moment they stepped onto her bus. Her community spirit was legendary. An avid bowler and a lover of the game, Pat broke barriers as the first woman softball umpire for Pine Bush Little League.
She spent countless years volunteering for the league long after her own sons had finished playing, simply because she loved the kids and the sport. She was also a long-time member of the Walker Valley Ladies Auxiliary, where she thrived in fund-raising and, in her own words, "telling people what to do."
Pat was the definition of "strong-willed" and "generous to a fault." She was the kind of person who would stop at every single table in a diner to chat with neighbors and strangers alike, while her husband, Jim, waited patiently outside. Everyone who knew Pat also knew that she was never without a cup of coffee, and those who came to visit knew to always have one in hand for her. She went out of her way to make the world feel smaller and kinder for everyone she met.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Martin and Clifford; her sister, Marguerite; her son, Jimmy “Red” Finn; and Eric Pallazola, whom she loved like a son. Pat is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Finn; her son, Michael Finn; and Jerrod Moore, who was also like a son to her and her sister Kathleen Clyne. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who adored her and will deeply miss her caring spirit.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 25th from 1-5 PM at William M. Gagan Funeral Home 1525 Burlingham Road Pine Bush, NY 12566. Funeral services will be at 4:30pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Pat’s honor to the Walker Valley Chemical Engine Company # 1 3679 State Rte 52 Pine Bush, NY 12566. (845) 744-3119 or the Pine Bush Volunteer Ambulance Corps PO Box 407 Pine Bush, NY 12566 (845) 744-5391.
