Constance J. "Connie" Gabel Obituary

Constance J. Gabel

Middletown, NY

Constance “Connie” Gabel, age 63, of Middletown, NY found peace after a brief illness on April 5, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 14, 1963 to Beatrice and Joseph Gabel, Connie grew up in Chester, New York as the youngest of 6 children.

Connie spent 39 years working for Frontier in Middletown, NY. There, she made many lifelong friendships that she deeply treasured. Many of her colleagues became more than friends, they became her family.

Known for her bright smile, quirky personality, contagious and distinctive laugh, kind heart and compassionate soul, Connie was cherished and adored by all her family and friends. Anyone who knew her couldn’t help but love her, and she cherished those around her with the same love and devotion. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Connie” or “Auntie Connie” by so many who held her dear. Once you were in her heart, you remained there and she always made sure to show how loved and special you were. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and always made sure to send a card or special message.

Connie had a deep love for nature and the outdoors, and she was an avid animal lover. She cherished traveling with her family and made it a priority to visit loved ones, no matter the distance. Her favorite destination was the beach—especially Ocean City, Maryland—where she spent many treasured family vacations over the years. She lived life to the fullest, never missing a chance to take in the beauty of a sunrise or sunset.

Connie enjoyed the music of Elvis and Kenny Rogers, as well as watching Days of Our Lives; however, her greatest delight was her love for Snoopy, reflected in her extensive collection of Peanuts memorabilia. Over the years, friends and family knew they could never go wrong with a Snoopy-themed gift, and seeing Snoopy always brought Connie to mind. She will also be remembered for her deep patriotism and love of the American flag, often proudly wearing its colors and symbols.

One of Connie’s most remarkable traits was her incredible memory for dates and numbers. She seemed to have every phone number, important date, and even the smallest details tucked away in her mind—things most of us would long forget. Lovingly known as “Connie Calendar” and “Connie Calculator,” she was the one everyone turned to when they needed to recall a date, year, or age.

This gift was more than just an impressive memory—it was a reflection of her deep love for others. Connie never forgot the moments that mattered, both big and small, because she truly cherished the people in her life. It was just one of the many ways she showed her heart. She loved her family and friends deeply, and if you knew her, she made sure you felt that love every day.

One of the greatest gifts Connie leaves behind is the collection of memories she so lovingly created and preserved over the years. She was the family’s photographer, always capturing the moments and memories we shared together. Happiest behind her camera, Connie had a way of memorializing both the big milestones and the quiet, everyday joys.

We will forever cherish the memories we made with her and remain deeply grateful that she ensured we have photographs to hold onto those moments. Through those images, and the love they represent, Connie will always be with us.

Connie’s favorite flower was the rose—a fitting reflection of her spirit, as it embodies the love, beauty, passion, and romance she carried within her and so generously shared with others. Though she will be deeply missed, she leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to bloom in the hearts of those she cherished.

Connie is survived by her lifelong partner, Ben; her loving son, Cody, who was her greatest pride and the joy of her life; her brothers, Craig and John; her sisters, Danita and Joanne; her nieces, Brandi (Jesse) and Lyndsey (Matt); her great-nieces, Brooklyn and Marley; her great-nephews, Henry and Ryder; her best friend, Ruby; her sister-in-law, Teresa; the family kitty, Spinx; and many more nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

She is predeceased by mother and father, Beatrice and Joseph; her brother, George; her brother-in-law, Henry; her nephew, Hanky; and her beloved dog, Max.

In accordance with Connie’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time; a celebration of her life will be planned for a later date, with details to be shared once they are finalized. Arrangements entrusted to the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. www.wmgaganfuneralhome.com
