Rosa Olga Marques Januario Obituary

Rosa Olga Marques Januario

Pine Bush, NY

Rosa Olga Marques Januario passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2026, in Newark, NJ. She was the daughter of the late João da Silva Marques “Farraia” and Maria José de Oliveira Henriques, and was born on February 16, 1944, in Válega, Ovar, Portugal.

Olga was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and

great-grandmother who will be deeply missed. She grew up in Portugal, working in the fields with oxen. She was proud to be a Filha de Maria, where she developed a deep passion for the Church and her faith. She emigrated to the United States in search of a better life. She worked as a nanny, where her love for children grew, and later in factories and as a seamstress before settling into her most cherished role as a stay-at-home mother. She met her husband at a Valentine’s Day dance, and they married soon after. They eventually settled in Pine Bush, where they raised their family. She was an integral part of a close-knit and growing Portuguese community and was a member of the Church of the Infant Savior.

Olga’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and she loved embarking on long road trips and adventures with her husband.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joaquim Januário; her beloved children, Victor Januário, Susan Spinato (John), and Jack Januário (Sandra); her cherished grandchildren, Courtney (Ian), Amelia, Joseph, Phillip, Olivia, Victor Alexander, Michael, Aurora, and William; and her great-grandson, Keegan. She is also survived by her sister, Cremilde Almeida; her niece and nephews, Maria (Agostinho), Felisberto, and John (Jamie); her great-nieces and nephews, Marcus, Isabella, Julia, Anabella, John Matthew, and Evan; as well as her god children, extended family, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her stepmother, Maria Albina de Pinho, and her brother, João Marques.

She leaves behind a tremendous void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
