Berneice (Weed) Carroll

Berneice (Weed) Carroll, the oldest living native of Walker Valley, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026 after a brief illness.  She was 96 years young.

The daughter of the late Lewis H. and Alice Rusgrove Weed, she was born on August 2, 1930 in Walker Valley, NY.

She is survived by her daughters, June McCombs of Cragsmoor and Kathy Carroll of Walker Valley and her sons, Jay Carroll and his wife Dawn, David Carroll and his wife Dianne, Paul Carroll and his wife Barbara, Tim Carroll and his wife Alice and Michael Carroll and his companion Dale Hlavacek all of Walker Valley, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John Carroll, Jr, four brothers Jim, Edward, Lewis and Eugene, five sisters, Lillian, Claudia, Alice, Evelyn and Dawn and her son-in-law Mike McCombs of Cragsmoor.

She was an avid hunter and fisher person and loved to read.

The family wants to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, aides and staff on the 5th Floor Comfort Care Unit at Garnett Medical Center for their wonderful care of our mother.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walker Valley Fire Company or the Walker Valley Sportsmens Association.
