Fritz W. Apelles Fritz W. Apelles, of Pine Bush, NY, a Heavy
Equipment Operator with Local 137, I.U.O.E. and a Blacksmith by
trade, as well as a long time resident of the area, died Friday,
January 14, 2005 at Middletown Park Manor, Middletown, NY. He was
82. The son of Frederick Apelles and Emma Simms Apelles, he was
born September 16, 1922 in Germany. He was a member of Local 137,
International Union Operating Engineers. He attended Trinity
Lutheran Church in Walden, NY and was a former member of the
German/American Club. A Family statement: "He loved to hunt and
fish. Fritz lived for the outdoors." He is the husband of Hildegard
Eppert. Survivors include his beloved wife at home; his loving
children: Hans Apelles of Croton, NY, Vera Bardin of Pine Bush, NY,
Traute Watson of Dolgeville, NY, Christel Bathrick of Palatine
Bridge, NY, Ralph W. Apelles of Pine Bush and Christa Smith of
Waco, GA; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, three sisters:
Dolly Moeller of Lewes, DE, Edith Obermeier of Germany and Herta
Pohlmann of Germany; one brother, Hans U. Apelles of Somers, NY,
and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first
wife, Martha Herrmann and his brother, Heinz Apelles. Visitation
will be on Monday, January 17 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush, NY.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 18 at 11 a.m. at
the William M. Gagan Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Prospect
Cemetery, Pine Bush, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to
