Sgt Eric Meier was Pine Bush. He was at every event, whether on or off duty and always with that fantastic smile on his face. He was an especially good friend to all the Veteran's organizations in town. Pine Bush has lost it's face. The entire Meier family will be in our prayers. God has gained a special angel!

I was shocked when I heard the news that Eric had passed. I went to high school with Eric. I am also a member of the Walden Sportsman Club where he was a member and all of us at the club will miss him. One thing I will always remember about Eric is that every single time that I saw him he always had a smile on his face. Even the time he pulled me over for going a "little too fast" one night when I was on call for work and was rushing in to do my job he smiled and said "How have you been" and "have a good night". I will never forget that. I will also never forget the night my mother was sick and Eric was there to help us. Eric you were a great guy - RIP.

Eric was a wonderful friend and neighbor for all of the 30+ years that we knew him. As our closest neighbor, we interacted often with Eric and JoAnn and they have both been wonderful to us over the years. As next door neighbors, we always tried to look out for each other and offer help whether it was getting rid of snow, cutting grass, car repairs, borrowing tools, or whatever. We became friends too as we share many of the same interests, hunting, fishing, shooting, water sports, etc. We all belong to the Walden Sportsmen's Club and were looking forward to Eric assuming his duties as the new Range Officer. He was an exemplary police officer and dedicated Board of Ed. member. His goal was always to help others and he always did it with a smile. His heart was large out of proportional to this big man. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle and caring husband, father, son, and brother. His absence will be felt by many of us. We will never forget you.

My Deepest Condolences to Eric's family and his colleagues at the Town of Crawford Police Department.
I first met Eric 25 years ago when I was an Orange County Assistant District Attorney assigned to the Town of Crawford Justice Court.
He possessed all of the qualities that make up an excellent police officer.
He was a genuine person who never spoke badly of anyone.
Over the years my friendship with Eric developed further and upon my moving to Pine Bush 13 years ago I would see Eric on a regular basis around town .
He always had a smile on his face and a positive outlook on things.
He truly saw the goodness in everyone and would help anyone friend or stranger without hesitation .
His passing is a devistating loss to his family , colleagues , friends and the entire Pine Bush Community.
I am grateful to have known Eric and to have considered him my friend .
I can only hope that in time, the sadness that his family and colleagues feel today will be diminished by rich and wonderful memories of Eric's life .
He truly was an shining example of the goodness in man.
My God bless him and my he rest in peace .

To Eric's family, we are so privileged to have known such a wonderful and intelligent person, a man who looked out for all of us in the community as his did all of you, his family. He would keep an eye on our store and home if he knew we were out of town, without us even asking. He would stop in to chat and just happen to have an extra coffee with him. He always made us laugh. Our lives were better for him being a part of them. Please know you are in our hearts and in our prayers.
