John R. Whitman

John R. Whitman, a Retired RN at the Wallkill Correctional
Facility passed away on Wednesday January 29, 2014 at St. Luke's
Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 61. The son of
the late Lonnie Whitman and Eleanor Futrell Whitman, he was born on
August 15, 1952 in Richlands, North Carolina. John was an
avid Yankees fan who regularly attended games with his sister Jan.
Survivors include his loving and devoted partner of 30yrs, Steven
James Bello at home, sisters; Jan Whitman of Nanuet, Joy
Bond-Nelson of Brooksville, FL and Joanne Roth and her husband
Thomas of Spring Hill, FL. John is also survived by many aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, and
cousins. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday
February 1, 2014 from 5-7pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home
Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush NY. Cremation was private and at
the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please make
a donation to the Food Bank of Hudson Valley, 195 Hudson St.
