Charles was one of my close friends. We had known each other for 35 plus years. He lived on the the next block from me. He always called me little brother. Every time I was in Pine Bush, I would seek him out to see him. He always made me feel special and like I truly mattered. When I moved to Florida, we continued to text each other. I named my cat after Charles. My last message from Charles is that he talked about doing a stand up comedy act and wanted to know my opinion. That he wanted to know my opinion meant that I mattered to him. I thought that I had not heard from him because he was busy with life. Like we all get busy. My heart is broken that I lost one of my friends. I think of him daily and miss him! Until we meet again! Love you Cork!

I so wanted to get up to PB yesterday afternoon to pay my respects. Corky was such a bright light in so many people's lives. His comments on my facebook posts always made me smile, he had just posted a video of him doing the weather during the January storm that my colleagues and I loved.
I was so proud of him for getting sober ( such a commitment he had to make every day ). I loved his pride in our country and his service.
He was an incredible man taken way too soon.
My sincerest apologies for not getting upstate, my mom passed away Friday and as you know it has been a rollercoaster. You are all in my thoughts and prayers this morning as you pay tribute to a great man.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Charles, "Chuck," "Corky" Kelly. He was a high school friend of mine, and a great person. He always spoke from the heart with genuine guidance. Corky has left this world too soon. Today while in the garage at home down in VA Beach, I came across my PBHS class of 88' senior yearbook. I put it aside to see what Corky had said. When I read it, I was surprised to see that we had the same aspirations. Corky and I were both Sailors and although our paths did not cross in the Navy, I was able to fulfill his high school ambition. I will miss not being able to laugh with him and share the Navy stories. A good person who leaves this world, leaves behind memories that keep them alive in those close to him or her. Corky's positive spirit will live on in many of us!

On behalf of the Pine Bush Veterans Organizations we were all shocked by Corky's passing. A true patriot, proud of his American Legion membership and responsibilities in our community and ever lasting loyalty to country, he was always there, helping in any way he could. I would occasionally walk with him through our town and enjoyed his humor and friendship. I can still see him patrolling our streets with his famous "walking stick" as he continues to give back in spirit to Pine Bush and America. Until we meet again shipmate !

Bless Corky and the Kelly Family. I knew Corky since forever. Worked along side him at countless legion BBQs since we were little kids. On a long shot I asked him one day if he’d consider being our DJ at my wedding (4hrs away in Oswego-16yrs ago) he was more than happy to do it for us. As a life long resident and small business owner in the Hamlet of Pine Bush I beeped, waved and said hello to Corky about twice a week for the last many-many years as he walked the loop. Always excited to update me on the mileage. I’ll miss him. And I’ll miss his positive attitude the most.

I want to extend my sympathy to the family. I did not serve with Corky and in fact I think my service aboard the USS Fairfax County 1973-1976 occurred about the time he was born.
Nevertheless we are shipmates forever.

I first me Chuck in 1988 as I was preparing to leave USS Fairfax County and he had just reported aboard.
I met him again four years later when fate sent me back. This time I was reporting aboard and he was preparing to leave. After four years on “the boat” Chuck was the same guy.
Four years in sometimes hell and he was the same great guy.
Decades later I met him again at a USS Fairfax County reunion. Same guy.
He was honest, fun, and engaging. I and the crew he served with on USS Fairfax County will miss meeting him again.

Please know that Lynn and I are praying for the Kelly family. Corky was an awesome Patriot and a proud veteran. He always gave such a warm smile and hearty hello to everyone he met. When the Legion needed help Corky was always there. If it was for the community, Corky was there, it did not matter what was asked of him. The children he taught in the Patriot program just loved his presentation and his singing. Thank you Corky, and I know we will meet again.
