Sarah S. Giacalone, a long time resident of Washingtonville, NY, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2018. She was 78 years old.
She was born on December 5, 1939 in Edinburgh, Scotland to the late Henry and Chrissie Balloch. As a young woman, Sarah bravely journeyed to the United States all by herself to start a new life. It was here that she met her true love, the late Vito Giacalone, who predeceased her on October 19, 1993.
Sarah was an avid reader, and could often be found curled up with a good book. She was active with the Blooming Grove seniors and she loved shopping with her friends on the senior bus, her iced mocha and visits with her favorite dog, Piper. Always up for some conversation, Sarah was very witty with a great sense of humor.
She is survived by many friends whose lives she blessed and deeply touched. She was a kind soul, and the type of friend you would want as your own. She will be missed dearly, and her memory will always be cherished.
