Joyce Arvanetes, long time resident of Tallman, NY, Charlestown, RI and Pine Bush, NY, passed away peacefully, at home on Wednesday, July 4, 2018.  She was the beloved wife of the late James Arvanetes. Born in Rochester, NY on April 27, 1932, Joyce was a graduate of the University of  Rochester and of Fairleigh Dickenson University.  She married James Arvanetes in 1954.  Joyce taught Spanish in the East Ramapo Central School District and retired in 1988. Joyce is survived by her daughter and son in law, Jill and Robert Wilson of Pine Bush, NY, and her grandchildren; Dean Wilson, Melina Wilson, Baileigh Wilson and Johanna Wilson.  She is also survived by her son, James E. Arvanetes.  We all cherished the time we spent with her. Joyce had a deep love of family. It gave her joy to be with her grandchildren and to celebrate birthdays and holidays.  She had been an active member of the Pine Bush Seniors and a devoted member of the “Second Thursday” Book Club at the Pine Bush Library.  Her love of learning, wealth of knowledge and her sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends who wish to share their memories of Joyce or offer condolences are invited to gather for a repast on Sunday, July 15, 2018, between the hours of 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm, at the Town of Crawford Senior and Youth Center at 115 Route 302, Pine Bush, NY. A private burial will take place at the Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island.
