Thomas Joseph O’Brien, 67, died suddenly Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY.  Thomas retired after 40 years of service, as a Technician for Verizon. He was a longtime resident of the area.  The son of the late, Thomas O’Brien and Catherine Domino Goldstein, he was born on September 29, 1951 in Bronx, NY. He met his wife, Brenda O'Brien, in Bronx, NY and they were married in 1977.  Thomas took pride in his career, his wife whom he adored, and his family.  In 1984, the couple moved to Middletown, NY where they made a living and raised their family. Thomas cherished Brenda with all of his heart, and boasted about his three children and eight grandchildren every chance he got.  Thomas retired proudly in 2010.  Thomas is known for his radiant personality, his laughter and his jokes.  He could make you laugh so hard, you cried.  He was the friend that everyone wanted, the life of every party. Thomas was the most loving and generous husband, father and grandfather.  He celebrated life every chance he got.  Thomas accepted everyone and loved them with complete sincerity. He leaves his wife of 42 years, Brenda O'Brien; his son, Alfred McBride and his wife Laura of Pennsylvania; his daughter Jillian Quill and her husband Shawn of Pine Bush; his daughter in law Dawn O'Brien and her partner Ted Conroy of Pine Bush; 8 grandchildren: Logan, Shelby, Joey, Natalie, Tanner, Mason, Jossie and Owen; brothers, Stephen Goldstein and his wife Kathy, Jeff Goldstein and his wife Bonnie; sisters, Irene Zarcone, Theresa Havekotte and her husband Ken, Debra Anderson and her husband Ed; sister in laws, Maureen Brennan Mercier, Della Jacobs and her husband TC, Edna Knall and Yvonne Richardson; and his brother in law Jarvis Browning and his wife Gayle. Thomas is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.   Thomas is predeceased by his beloved son Justin O’Brien, brother Daniel O’Brien, brother in law Bilton Browning; his father and mother in law, Jarvis and Susan Browning, as well as his step father, Jerry Goldstein.  Visitation will be held on Friday October 26, 2018 from 5-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush, NY. Funeral services will be offered on Saturday October 27, 2018 at 11am with Pastor Joe McKelvey officiating. Cremation will be private.
