Clare J. McCarthy, 65, of Pine Bush, New York, passed away on December 24, 2018 in Rhinebeck, New York. Clare was born in Queens, New York to William and Emma Janofsky on March 1, 1953.  She went to high school at John S. Burke Catholic High School in Goshen, New York and graduated in 1970. She went on to earn a degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Michigan Tech. Clare worked as an engineer for IBM for seventeen years where she did research and developed numerous patents. She enjoyed horseback riding, taking trips to Long Beach Island, and spending time with her daughter and friends. Clare is survived by her daughter, Caitlin McCarthy of Pine Bush, New York, brother, John Janofsky of Milton, Vermont, and nephew, Michael Janofsky of St. Petersburg, Florida.  She is preceded in death by her father, William Janofsky, mother, Emma Janofsky, and sister, Janet Janofsky. Clare was a loving mother, sister, and friend. She will be forever in the hearts of her family and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday December 29, 2018 from 10am -12pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc.1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush, NY 12566. Funeral Services will be held at 12pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Florida, NY.
