Obituary of Frederick C. Schaffner

Frederick C. Schaffner Walden, NY Fred C. Schaffner, 88, of Walden NY passed away Thursday October 7th, 2021 At Garnet Health hospital in Middletown NY as a result of many health conditions. He was born on January 25, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Frederick C. Schaffner Sr., and Helen Tools Schaffner. Fred has been a resident of Highland rehab/nursing center since January of this year. Fred has accomplished so much in his life from being in the Coast Guard, working at IBM, helping create the guidance systems for the Thor and Atlas missiles, and working at Orange County Community College as a Audio/Visual technician. Fred also built a quaint little home on property he owned in Linden, TN where they dreamed of living one day. He really enjoyed reading, researching just about everything and relaxing while doing his sudoko puzzles but more than anything he enjoyed being with his family and always showed them immeasurable love at all times. Fred’s love and guidance will be missed by many. Survivors include his wife, Joan Schaffner of Walden, NY (currently at Highland nursing center), daughter Joan (Joni) Hulce and her husband Jeff of Linden ,TN, sons, Eric Schaffner and wife Nancy of Wurtsboro, NY, Kurt Schaffner and girlfriend Kim of Lafayette, IN, daughter in law, Dawn Schaffner of Port Jervis, NY, grandchildren Bridget, Kurt Jr, Matthew, Sara, Eric jr, Carlie, Andrew and Aaron and many Great grandchildren. Sincere appreciation to the staff at Highland nursing center, to all at Garnet Health ICU and to Fred's brother in law Gregory for his love, support and guidance. Visitation will be held on Friday October 15, 2021 from 10am-12pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush NY.
