Markita Marie Shevlin, 31 , of Maybrook NY passed away on August 27, 2022 at Midhudson Hospital. Markita had a fulfilling career as a caseworker with Catholic Charities of Kingston. She received her Bachelors Degree from Queens College in New York. Markita loved her children and her family most of all and will be greatly missed. Markita will always be remembered as a social butterfly, with a personality that was larger than life. Her love and compassion for others was evident in her work as well as her everyday life. Markita was the definition of a true friend and will be greatly missed by her closest friends; Jessica Martinez, Amanda Scalzo, Jessica Delacruz, and Sonyette Stewart. It is through friends and family her memory will live on. She is survived by her fiancé Dioenes Rodriguez, and two sons Carmelo (7) and Diogenes (7 months) Rodriguez; supportive parents Helen and Bruce Mikol; sisters Tasha Shevlin (Aleksander Velkovski), and Samantha Mikol; niece and nephew, Ella and Aleksander Velkovski; as well as her godson Zayden Martinez. Markita was predeceased by her grandparents; Margaret and Anthony DeRusso. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday October 1, 2022 at William M. Gagan Funeral Home in Pine Bush NY from 2pm-4pm.
