Arlene M. Cummings Obituary

Arlene M. Cummings

Pine Bush, NY

Arlene M. Cummings, a long-time resident of Pine Bush, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving husband and all of her children. Arlene was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 3, 1953 to George and Mary Johansen. No matter the role, wife, mother, sister, aunt, or friend, her love was selfless, unconditional, and had no boundaries. Throughout her life, Arlene’s compassion for her lovedones and generous heart were evident in everything she did. She was a devoted wife to Eugene, her husband of 47 years, and their love grew after their first date on October 21, 1972. Arlene, affectionately called mom and Ar, was a devoted mother and guiding light to her six children, four son-in-laws and one daughter-in-law. Her constant support and listening ear will be greatly missed. Arlene, lovingly called Ma-Ma and grandma, was also an adoring grandmother to her grandchildren. She always had time to hear their stories, sneak them snacks, and encourage them to just have fun. For over 30 years, she was a manager at the Pine Bush McDonalds. Arlene’s greatest joys in life included being surrounded by the chaos of her family and relaxing on her screened-in porch watching hummingbirds. She had the ability to be a mother to anyone that needed it and loved and raised the hearts of more people than shewill ever know. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and George Johansen, brother Donald, mother and father-in-law Carol and Edward Cummings, brother-in-law Kenny Cummings, andsister-in-law Diane Carty. Arlene is survived by her husband, Eugene; her children Erica Vollano (Scott), Eugene Cummings Jr. (Soany), Kerri Dec (Jeff), Erin Muro (Jon), Megan Carlson (Tyler) and Kristi Cummings. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Kayla, Hailey, Isabella, Emily, Eugene III, Jonnie, Amber, Colin, Alexa, Jon, and Nick. In addition, she is survived by her brother George Johansen (Gail) and sister Mariann Hartmann (Lou); sisters- in-law Eileen Johansen, Noreen Cummings; brothers-in-law Edward Cummings (Jorgine), Richard Cummings (Susan), nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023, 2-4pm and 6-8pm at William Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY 12566. A Mass of Catholic burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 10:00am at the Church of the Infant Saviour, 22 Holland Avenue, Pine Bush NY 12566.
