Carol Ann Gihr, a longtime resident of Pine Bush, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, in the comfort of her home. She was 76 years old. Carol was born to the late John “Jack” Martin  and Agnes Donovan Martin on June 12, 1946 in Bronx, NY. Due to her father’s job, they lived in many places in New York State finally settling in Pine Bush around 1961. Carol worked long-term for Orange County, but wore many hats. Many will remember her bakery in town or her Native American shop at her home. Tee-pee and all! Anyone who knew Carol knew how much she loved Ireland and being Irish. She loved visiting the country and learning about her family heritage. Carol was one of five children. Her surviving siblings include her twin brother, Daniel Martin and his wife Mary Ann and her sister Ann Dowd, both residing in Arizona.  Carol is survived by her loving sons Thomas Gihr Jr. and wife Suzanne, Michael Gihr and wife Nancy, and Stephen Gihr and wife Rebecca. Seven grand children:. Matthew Carson and his wife Loren, Kimberly Gallo, Sarah Gihr, Jesse Gihr, Shane Gihr, and Stephen Gihr, sister in law, Bonita Martin and also four great grandchildren: Jack, Cameron, Isla, and Gianna. As well as many nieces and nephews.Carol was predeceased  by her loving and devoted husband, Thomas E. Gihr Sr. on January 17, 2022 , her grandson Brody Thomas Gihr, her brother, Edward Martin and sister, Joan Naugle.  A Celebration of life will be held by the family on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 4-8pm at Gagan Funeral Home 1525 Burlingham Rd, Pine Bush, NY 12566.
