Gail L. Montalto “Weasy”, of Pine Bush NY, passed away unexpectedly at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown NY on Sunday, May 28th. She was 52 years old.
She was the loving wife of Christopher B. Montalto, and the loving mother of Megan L. Montalto.
Gail was born on July 31, 1970 in Spring Valley, NY. She grew up in the area, enjoying a playful and free-spirited childhood. In her teens, she moved to the Pine Bush area where she later met her high school sweetheart of 36 years, Christopher. Gail studied Science at Nassau Community College, earning her Associates Degree. She later studied Environmental Science at SUNY New Paltz. Years later she gave birth to her only child, Megan.
Gail worked in the business world, working in corporate and sales. She was also a lovely homemaker and was talented in the culinary arts. She loved to spend quality time with family and friends, and was able to make anyone feel welcome in her home.
Her loving and outgoing personality lit up the room, and she was able to make anyone smile, even in their saddest times. Gail’s hobbies included genealogy, cooking, baking, art, and crafting. She loved music, cosmetology, fashion, and cinema. She had a passion for the sciences, especially in marine biology. Her favorite thing to do was travel to Maine, visiting the beach. The beach was known as her place of peace.
Gail will be deeply missed. She is predeceased in death by her caring grandmother, Lillian Hinckley, grandfather Charles DePalma, uncle Robert Clifford Hinckley, and father, Stephen Taylor. She is survived by her endearing husband: Christopher Montalto; her loving daughter, Megan Montalto; her mother, Gale DePalma; her brother, Charles “Chuck” Taylor and his wife Elizabeth “Libbie” Taylor; her sister, Melissa Gauche and her husband Paul Gauche; her father and mother-in-law, Richard and Linda Viuker; brother-in-law and significant other, Jeffrey Viuker and Anne FitzGerald; and her nieces and nephews: Lakin Taylor, McKenna “Kenna” Taylor, Max Taylor, Emerson Gauche, and Madelyn Gauche. She is also survived by her many distant cousins, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15th from 10am-11am at William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY 12566. Funeral services will begin at 11am at the funeral home. Following the service, there will be a procession to New Prospect Cemetery in Pine Bush, NY where a graveside memorial will take place.
