Douglas Walter Eccleston, 69, of Ballston Spa, NY passed away peacefully after a long illness on September 14, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Douglas was born in Mount Vernon, NY to Harold Francis Eccleston and Jane Louise (Pisano) Eccleston on July 15, 1954. He attended high school at Blessed Sacrament and New Rochelle High School and graduated in 1972. He went on to earn a degree in Heating and Ventilation from Ivy Technical Community College in Indiana. In 1980, he began a career with Con Edison at Indian Point Station, Unit 2 as a Nuclear Plant Operator. He went on to become a licensed reactor operator, Control Room Supervisor, and eventually became a licensed operator training instructor. He retired from Indian Point in 2007 and moved on to Seabrook Station in Seabrook, NH as a training instructor before finally retiring in 2017. He retired with his wife to Port St. Lucie, FL but then returned to NY in March 2022. Douglas is survived by his wife Patricia (Wassmann) Eccleston, of Ballston Spa, NY. His children, Eric Eccleston (Katherine) of Schodack Landing, NY, Robin Rule (Robert) of Wallkill, NY and Joshua Zint (Jessica) of Waterford, NY. His siblings Laurel (Patrick) Dufer of Apple Valley, CA, Lesley Eccleston of New Port Richey, FL, Kevin (Beth) Eccleston of West Harrison, NY, Karen Tedesco and her significant other Mike Cunningham of Delray Beach, FL He is also survived by his grandchildren Gabe, Sophia and Oliver Eccleston of Schodack Landing, Holly and Benjamin Rule of Wallkill, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Harold Eccleston, Jr., Kenneth Eccleston, and Bryan Eccleston. Visitation will be held at William M. Gagan Funeral Home in Pine Bush, NY on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 4 PM to 7 PM. Funeral service will be held at William M. Gagan Funeral Home in Pine Bush, NY on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt, NY.
