On September 29, 2023, Lillian Corkey, 89, of Pine Bush was peacefully called home to God in Sebastian, FL, where she enjoyed the last year of her life.

Lillian was born in Astoria, Queens NY on March 9th, 1934 to parents Adele Voss Bahrenburg and Henry Bahrenburg. Lillian was a lifelong resident of Pine Bush, NY, and graduated from Pine Bush High School in 1952.

An active member of the Mountain View United Methodist Church, Lillian spent her time on Earth devoted to God- she thrived in prayer groups and enjoyed Christian television programs. Lillian loved natural beauty, her cats, and tending to her flower garden.

Lillian‘s kind and patient demeanor helped create a calm office environment as she served her community in the child welfare department at the Orange County Department of Social Services for 30 years. She was well-respected by her colleagues and supervisors.

Lillian is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Donald Corkey, her son Steven Corkey, her brothers Henry Bahrenburg and Harold Bahrenburg, and her brother-in-law George Nye.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Nye, of Pine Bush; her son, Kenneth Corkey, of Wurtsboro; her daughter, Carolyn Lindsell and her husband Charlie, of Sebastian; her grandchildren, Christina Corkey and Elizabeth Corkey; her great-grandchildren Matthew, Zachary, Chance, and Jasmine; and her many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4th from 1:00-3:00 PM at William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY. A Christian funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 5th at 10:00 AM at Mountain View United Methodist Church, 3641 NY-52, Walker Valley, NY.  She will be eternally laid to rest at Hopewell Cemetery in Thompson Ridge.
