Charles R. Schwope, 80, Owner and Operator of Schwope Machinery in Bullville, and longtime resident of the area, passed away on Thursday October 19, 2023 at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown with his family by his side. The son of the late Carl R. Schwope and Margaret M. Kanski, he was born on June 7, 1943 in Englewood, NJ. Charlie was a Charter and Life member, and Past Chief of the Bullville Fire Company. He was known by many and admired for his skills to fix farm equipment and small engines that needed his expertise. Charlie enjoyed hunting, reading and tinkering in his garage. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, reading and mowing the lawn. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eileen Joyce Schwope, his children, Charles Schwope and his wife Kristine of Dallas, TX,  Deborah Gallant and her husband James of Middletown, NY, and Lee Ann Schwope (Cochran) of Bluemont, VA; grandchildren, James, Warren, and Sophia Gallant, Julia and Ryan Schwope, Seth, Joshua, and Isabel Cochran, siblings, Janet Herzberg and her husband Barry of Bell, FL, Bruce Schwope and his wife Maryann of Pine Bush, NY. Charlie is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday October 26, 2023 from 3-7pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush, NY.  Funeral mass will be offered on Friday October 27, 2023 at 10am at St. Paul’s RC Church, 2800 Rte 17K in Bullville.
