Frieda M. Gabriel Frieda M. Gabriel, age 90, of Danvers, Mass., died suddenly on December 29, 2006 at a nursing home where she was progressing with rehabilitation following a stroke and fall. Frieda had been residing in an assisted living community in Danvers since October, 2005. Previously, she lived in the Walker Valley area full time since 1977 and seasonally since 1950. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on May 16, 1919, "Sweet Sixteen", she always said to her parents, the late William and Anna Kirch Gasber. After working five years as a legal secretary in Manhattan, she married in 1938 and raised her family in Ridgewood "Queens", N.Y., where she was a Cub Scout Den Mother in the 1950's, and a member of the Rosary & Altar Society of Miraculous Medal Church. After moving to Walker Valley, she was a member of the Senior Citizens Club and an active member of Our Lady of the Valley Church, including Treasurer for two terms of the Walker Valley Catholic Society, altar caretaker, and Eucharistic Minister. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, her sister, Anna Rizzi, and her brother, William. She is survived by two sons, Andrew Gabriel and his wife, Alice of Beverly, Mass., and Paul Gabriel and his wife, Connie of Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren: Joseph Gabriel of Westford, Mass., Ernest Gabriel of Beverly, Mass., Lynette Zentgraft of Owings, Md., Ellen Lapiejko of Beverly, Mass., Luke Gabriel of Denver, Colo., and Nick Gabriel of Glenwood Springs, Colo. Frieda has nine cherished great-grandchildren: Julia and Caroline Gabriel, Marissa, Alana and David Gabriel, William Zentgraft III, Albert, Raymond and Samuel Lapiejko. She is further survived by two nieces, Annette Heller and Joan Lind of New Jersey, and a nephew, Arthur Rizzi of Sweden. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, Inc., 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush, N.Y. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 13 at 10 a.m. in The Church of the Infant Saviour, Route 302, Pine Bush. Burial will take place in Walker Valley Cemetery.
