A great man and friend who took a chance with me hiring me at pine bush as a biology teacher !! He was always on my side and mentored me !! I could always go to him with biology questions!! Because of him, I was able to have a 33 year career, and retire with an income, and security for the rest of my life!! I will always have a special place in my heart for this compassionate caring man!! May he RIP!!

I recieved a text from a friend in Pine Bush that Mr.Tice had died. I was driving and had to pull over and stop for a bit. I live on an island in Alaska and just stared out at the ocean for awhile before responding. I loved Mr.Tice for his kindness and welcoming spirit when I transferred into PBC in 7th grade from New Jersey. I had him for science that year and again in 10th grade biology. He was a fabulous teacher. Mr. Tice supported me and the other class officers when I was Junior class president..he was our advisor. I am so grateful for his life and kindness towards me. Praying for peace for all who loved him.

There are many fond memories of the Tice family that I carry with me. Times at Hopewell, and babysitting the girls. Mr. Tice always had a smile. He was my teacher and principal. He brought me home from school, so kindly, the day my dad died. He helped me become a teacher through example. Thank you for sharing him. Katherine Bahrenburg O'Connell

To: All Members of the family of Ward Tice.
Please accept my sincere sympathy in your loss.
I had Ward as a biology teacher at Pine Bush High School in the 1970s! He was a great teacher! He influenced me in ways that led me to continued studies in biological science in college. I appreciate the natural world the most to this day.
I also remember that he would try to encourage students to attend the junior prom and have a good time!
Rest in peace Ward!
Sincerely,
Joyce Monaco Depew

Dear Lorna and Family,
Ward was a wonderful person. But I don’t have to tell you that. When I first arrived in Pine Bush, in 1987, I remember him welcoming me. He was kind and pleasant and way more experienced than I was. He made me feel comfortable and confident knowing I’d be working with people like him in Pine Bush. I’m glad to have met him and the rest of your family.
So sorry for your loss.

It is with shock and sadness to hear about the loss of Ward Tice. He was certainly one of my favorite patients and I will miss him dearly. I express my deepest condolences to the entire Tice family. They were not only superb patients but they were like family. Ward had a great sense of humor and over the decades I knew him, he always put a smile on my face. Rest in peace Ward. You led a great life and I will never forget you. Cliff Teich, M.D.

Caring, funny, concerned, patient (most of the time),and dedicated are a few descriptors about Ward Tice. The most important is Family Man. Ward loved his family.
I knew Ward for 54 years. Ward and Lorna became family friends. As my teacher, he taught me Biology.( at least tried to). Ward allowed me to rub poison ivy all over my arm, I insisted, to prove I would get it. He then used my itchy rash as a lesson! As our class advisor, he taught Janet, Bett and I the importance of team work, responsibility, hard work and fairness. (We are still besties). Our senior year , he continued as our personal advisor and advocate, getting Bett and I reinstated into the Senior Class (long story). A few years later, I returned as a teacher. He sat in my parents living room and made it clear I had to earn my job or get fired. Ward was able to separate professional and personal, a quality I tried to follow my entire career. He treated everyone equally, even the kids who snuck out the window of a hotel during a school ski trip ( longer story) . We didn't always see eye to eye, we had our disagreements professionally, but remained friends, all of these years. Thank you Ward. Thank you Lorna, Stacy and Sandy for sharing Mr. Ward Tice.

He was my Uncle and I loved him dearly. As he always told me I was a favorite person to him since I wet on him at his wedding. His calm and gentle nature always made me feel secure. I loved spending time with him whether we were at the beach, dancing the night away or celebrating a holiday. Growing up I have so many memories of our families just being together. I’m so grateful to have these memories. I will love and miss you forever. Rest easy now. I love you.
