Daniel Martin
Pine Bush, NY

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel “Danny” Martin. He died at age 56 on May 3, 2024. He was predeceased by his wife, Beatriz Hernandez. Danny is survived by his mother, Carmen Martin; his siblings Ramon Martin and his wife Erin Hlubik; Maria Gutierrez and her husband Chon Gutierrez; Sal Martin and his wife Virginia Martin; and Felipe Martin and his wife Barbara Martin, who mourn their loss. Danny was a generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved the cowboys football team and spending time with his family, including his aunts, uncles, and cousins. He had a special bond with his nieces and nephews who will always hold a special place in their heart for Uncle Danny.

Uncle Danny was a quiet hero. He didn’t speak loudly or command attention, but when he did speak, his words carried weight and wisdom. He wasn’t just an uncle in the way that the simple title implies. For my sisters, cousins and I, he was a mentor and confidant - a guardian.
Uncle Danny was a private man who lived his life devoted to his family. From a young age, I knew how protected and cared for I was by him. He allowed me to brave my confidence, like letting me drive his truck around when I was little, but comforted me when needed, like when I reversed that same truck into the garage and dented it. Anyone else would have shown their upset or anger, but my Uncle Danny simply said it was okay as long as I was okay and that was it. That kindness and protective nature never faltered with my uncle, even as I grew into adulthood. He was there every step of the way, quietly checking in to make sure I was okay. That silent strength and consistency defined him in every aspect of his life and never went unnoticed. Uncle Danny’s influence has left an indelible mark on me. There will never be a moment he isn’t missed, especially at our family gatherings where his favorite dessert combination of cake, ice cream and coffee will always be waiting for him. Rest in peace, Uncle Danny. My silent hero, mentor and confidant. Your legacy will live on through the lives you’ve touched and love you’ve given.

Uncle Danny was not just a relative. When his sister suffered a horrible car accident, he and his siblings stepped up to be there for her children, his nieces. He became more like a big brother to us. Our relationship was filled with laughter, adventures, and guidance that helped shape me into the person I am today. He was one of my biggest supporters in my journey to become an attorney. He never let me forget that I said I was going become one and any life decision I made and shared with him, he would say “I hope you’re still going to school to become a lawyer”. I had highs and lows throughout my journey and when I would keep him informed through every low point, he maintained his faith in me, even when I didn’t have faith in myself. Our connection was a cherished source of love and support. The loss of Uncle Danny has left a void in my heart and all who knew him. Danny always had his family’s back when they needed him the most. He was especially there for his nieces and nephews. He wanted us to be safe, but tough and to reach our full potential in life. His memory will live on in the moments we shared with him. As we mourn the passing of Uncle Danny, let us remember the joy he brought to our life and the impact he had on all of us. May his spirit live on in the cherished memories and lessons he leaves behind, guiding us through the days ahead. Rest in peace, dear Uncle Danny. You will be forever missed and always remembered with love and gratitude by your devoted niece and family.

My Uncle Danny was the most caring person I have ever met. No matter how busy Danny was, I know he would drop everything if I ever needed him. One time I accidentally cut myself with broken glass. The cut was so deep that I needed stitches. I called Danny to let him know I needed to go to the hospital. Within five minutes Danny was at my house, speeding to the hospital. While being at the hospital, he was making jokes to make me feel better. He said things like, “Looks like you’re not going to be a hand model anymore”.  This was the kind of person Danny was. He was always going out of his way for others. Anyone who knew Danny, knows how important family was to him. Danny loved the Cowboys Football. On Sundays during football season, the family would get together and have a barbecue, watch football together, and hang out with the family. Around 6pm, while watching the game, Danny would say to me, “Hey Mija, can you make me a cup of coffee?” If you knew Danny, you know how much he loved his coffee. I will always cherish these memories. Anyone who knew Danny, knows how great of a person he was. I will never forget the advice and lessons Danny has left me. His wisdom will forever guide me and the decisions I make throughout the rest of my life. You will be deeply missed Danny. Rest in Peace Uncle Danny.

Daniel Martin was an incredible and awe-inspiring human being. He was thoughtful and attentive, always checking in on everyone he cared for. He always put family first, making sacrifices almost no other man could fathom. He never let differences affect his love for others, always showing up even on bad terms. He was engaging and detail oriented, spending much of his time with his nieces and nephews and giving the most heartwarming gifts for every holiday. And most of all, he was loved. Loved by everyone who knew him and will be especially missed and grieved for by all those same people.

Dear Tio Nino,
I loved you more than you ever knew.  You came to each of our concerts and school events and saved every pamphlet.  The last time I saw you, you told me you were saving them to show me when I was older.  It breaks my heart to think you will never get to show them to us.  Each concert and school event, I will think of you.  I already miss you so much.  I love you.
-Toria.

Dear Tio Nino,
You were an amazing uncle who always cared for me and loved me.  I wish that I had more time to give you my thanks.  You always looked out for me and worked hard.  Thank you for coming to our concerts!  I hope that you have a wonderful time in heaven.  May god give you peace.  Thanks for everything.  We will miss you.  I love you!  We will pray for you.
