Steve W. Helms, life long resident of the area, passed away on Saturday July 13, 2024 at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY. He was 64. The son of the late Eugene Helms and Dolores Wilkins Helms, he was born on January 2, 1960 in Monticello. NY.  Steve spent most of his life in Pine Bush, NY, before moving to New Windsor, NY.

Steve was a dedicated Roofer, rising with the sun and working alongside his brother,  Gene at R&S Roofing. He found joy in auto racing, whether going to the dirt track on a Saturday night or watching NASCAR on Sunday. He was also a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his later years, Steve’s daily routine began with a large cup of coffee and concluded with evenings spent watching Jeopardy and “The Wheel.” Above all things, he had a deep love and immense pride for his family. Steve’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Steve is survived by his daughters, Jill Totten (Billy) and Annmarie Weale (Sam); his three grandchildren, Alexander, Marley, and Cole; his brothers, Gene Helms (Gloria) and Mike Helms; and brother-in-law, Richard Cromwell. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, and extended family as well as dear friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Dolores and Eugene Helms; his sisters, Debbie Cromwell and Dawn Helms; his nephew, Justin Helms; and his sister-in-law, Brynn Helms.

Family and Friends are welcome to celebrate Steve's life on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 2-5pm at William M. Gagan Funeral Home, located at 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY, 12566.
