Obituary of Edward F. Fahey
Edward F. Fahey
Fredericksburg, Va
Formerly of Pine Bush, NY
The family of Edward F. Fahey of Fredericksburg, VA is saddened to announce his passing on August 8, 2024 at the age of 95. Ed was born in Brooklyn NY in 1929. Ed served his country honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1948-1952. After his time in the Air Force, he held numerous positions with various airlines which took him to India, Japan, Vietnam, and numerous other countries throughout Europe and Asia. In 1963, Ed returned to New York and took a job with Iron Workers Local 40 where he was a structural ironworker and worked on a number of New York City skyscrapers. Ed became one of the few Licensed Certified Nuclear Welders in New York State and worked on the reactors at the Indian Point Power Plant in Peekskill, NY. Ed purchased property in Walker Valley New York in the late 1960s where he, along with his brother Dick and their two friends built his home. In 1972 he married the love of his life Christina Chater. After retiring from the Ironworkers in 1989 he and Chris traveled the world enjoying golf, cruises, friends and family. They especially loved escaping the New York winters to deep sea fish and walk the beaches in Florida until Chris’s untimely death in 2001. Ed became a celebrated volunteer working with Meals on Wheels and as a driver for the American Cancer Society. He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. He would never miss an opportunity to dance (with reckless abandon!). He would sing happy birthday (badly, but with enthusiasm!) to his daughter and grandkids each year. He is survived by his daughter Janet and son-in-law Wayne; grandson Michael, granddaughter Kate and her husband Brigham, step-son Don and wife Dixie, a cousin, two nieces and their families. Funeral Mass will be held at Infant Savior Catholic Church, Pine Bush NY at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 17. A Graveside Service will immediately follow in New Prospect Cemetery.
