Robert Hermann Rueter, owner and operator of Herman’s Erie Hotel in Pine Bush, NY passed away on Friday August 16, 2024 at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.  He was 87. The son of the late Herman Rueter and Lina Brandt Rueter, he was born on October 8, 1936 in Bay Shore, Long Island.  Robert went to Rhodes Preparatory School in Manhattan. He was a local business owner, and enjoyed reading, wood carving, painting and hunting. His real passion was fishing/fly fishing from Marthas Vineyard down to the shores of New Jersey along with trout streams in the Catskills and local fresh water sites. He was an Army Veteran, past member of the Masons, and numerous outdoor clubs and organizations where he would help teach outdoor skills at various schools and camps.  Robert is survived by his wife, Loretta of Pine Bush, sons Robert and Michael, grandchildren, Samantha, Taber, and Michala, nephew, Tony Brooks, nieces, Ann Marie Thurgood, Liz Papesca and Anita DuJohn.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Hermann and Lina, and granddaughter Michelle.  There will be no services or visitation at this time. Memorial donations may be made to The Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum, POB 1295, Livingston Manor, N.Y. 12758.
