Obituary of John T. Krol Jr.
John T. Krol Jr.
Pine Bush, NY
John T. Krol Jr. (Jack/Spider), a longtime resident of Pine Bush, formerly of West Haverstraw, passed away on Saturday November 16, 2024 at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown. He was 82. The son of the late John T. Krol and Janice Ecroyd Krol, he was born on born August 1, 1942 in Suffern, NY. Jack graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1959 and attended Plattsburgh State University. A proud Army Veteran, he served his country from 1964-1966, was an MP as well as UN Honor Guard Squad in Panmunjom, Korea. Jack retired from O&R Utilities as a Senior Supervisor in 1999 after 25+ years. Known as ‘Spider’ during his 30+ years bowling career, he had a lifetime average over 200, and two sanctioned 300 games. Afterwards, he was an avid golfer for 25 years. Of particular note was his ‘colorful’ golf attire, made for him primarily by his wife, Dawn. The Mets have lost one of their best and long-lasting fans – Jack was a diehard Mets since 1962. A Mets game on? You know where to find Jack – in front of the TV if not at Shea/Citifield with his daughter, Melissa. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years Dawn (nee Kendall), his dedicated daughter, Melissa, and devoted son-in-law, Robert Maloney, of Belleville NJ, his caring daughter Kathleen Krol of Bethel Park, PA, brother Gerald ‘Spyder’ Krol and sister-in-law Janice of Myrtle Beach, SC, nephew Jeffrey Krol of Houston, TX, granddaughter Katherine Schaus of Phoenix, AZ, as well many cousins and innumerable friends. Jack was pre-deceased by his parents, John and Janice (nee Ecroyd) Krol. Special thanks to Dr. Alexander Gapay for over 30 years of tireless dedication and best in class service. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY 12566. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made instead to the Middletown Humane Society, 142 Bloomingburg Rd. Middletown, NY 10940.
