I worked with Melissa years ago at a hotel doing housekeeping . She was always so happy and energetic and funny . We went to the bars a few times to have drinks and dance and just have fun together . I attended her youngest daughter birthday party when she was about 2 years old . I was so upset when I heard about her passing . She will always be missed .

Q: What 3 words best describe Melissa and why?
A: Three words that best describe my mom are forgiving, empathetic, and beautiful. My mom always forgave people for how they treated her even when it would affect her terribly. She always wanted love and to be loved back. It really showed how much of a good soul she had. She was Empathetic. Always showed sympathy for others even when they didn’t deserve it. My mom was a very beautiful woman but not just by her looks, also because of her soul. She was always was spiritual. She would always tell me stories of her own and talk to me about her beliefs.

She has such a beautiful soul and I wish people didn’t take her for granted. She loved music, art, and nature. Anything that was beautiful. flowers. Her favorite flower was lilacs. She loved all different types of music from metal to pop music. She really enjoyed everything. She visited and lived in a few different places in her life, but she always wanted to see more. I wish she was able to do that.

Something my mom was really good at was drawing. She drew a picture of me one day and i always tried to recreate that picture because of how good it was. I’d always beg her to draw more pictures because it was just so good. I wish she did more with her talents especially this one.

This day my mom took my brother and I to the Arboretum. She would take us here often. What’s special about this memory is that she would bring us here to not only enjoy the beautiful flowers, but to take my brother and I somewhere that she won’t have to spend money because we didn’t have it like that. But it showed me that she still tried and gave us a good time and didn’t let the struggles she had get in the way of her making her kids happy. There was many days like this. As a kid I didn’t mind we came here a lot even if it got boring sometimes. I still loved spending time with my mom. She would always try to take pictures of me and I would complain about it, but I actually really liked when she did I just didn’t want her to know that.

Q: What was Melissa like as a child?
A: I remember talking to Melissa once while walking to Frank's house after school about lucid dreaming. Even at 14 she had an old soul, a depth to her, and a passion for the more magical aspects of life. She was always kind to other people in school, even the ones who were different. I think she was always a little different, special, she had a light and I'm so sorry she's gone but I do believe that light lives on.
