Richard J. Skidmore of Lakeland Florida passed away January 11, 2025 after a short illness. Rich was born in Middletown, New York August 10, 1944 to the late Gertrude and Robert Skidmore. Being afflicted with Type 1 diabetes in his 30’s, he was never one to be heard complaining or asking “why me”. He accepted his fate and lived his life as a truly gentle man. Rich will be remembered by many in Middletown as an optical technician for Tri-Optics where he worked for many years until retirement.


Rich is survived by his loving wife Linda of 35 years, his daughter Sandy Ritter(Richie), granddaughter Krystal Allen(Stephan), grandson Richie and great granddaughters Miya League and Elliana Ritter. He is also survived by his sister Gail Lavitt and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Paul and his sister/best friend Judy Slottko.
