Robert F. Comeau
Pine Bush, NY
Robert F. Comeau left the party on August 14, 2008 at Arden Hill Hospital.
Bob was born on December 6, 1931, the son of John X. Comeau and Sylvia (Davison) Comeau (deceased).
He lived in Pine Bush almost his entire life and loved the town. He attended Pine Bush High School. He helped build the Neversink Dam before he moved to Long Island. Bob worked at Republic Aviation and helped to build the F 105 Fighter Jet used in Korea. He met and married his wife of 55 years, Rita Digiacomo. Bob then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Upon his discharge, he returned to Pine Bush with his family. He worked for the Department of Correctional Services for 24 years, as a machinist and retired as maintenance supervisor. While in corrections, he was the president of C.S.E.A. Local 159 for 18 years. He also became a Town of Crawford Police Officer, a job that he was proud of. He is an exempt member of the Pine Bush Fire Department and a member of the VFW.
Bob was quite the teller of jokes, beginning his greeting with..."did you hear the one about...".
He loved to camp, fish and hunt. Every summer was an adventure, traveling throughout the country with his family. His mission was to visit every state in the union and he missed by one. He was overwhelmed when he became a great-grandfather to Sarah Elizabeth, the love of his life. Bob loved his animals especially Foxy, Boots and Penny, along with Sam, Rusty, Boone, Duke and Elmer. He was quite the craftsman, making hat bands out of deer antlers and Native American jewelry.
Bob leaves behind his loving wife, Rita; his children, Lisa Durocher, Paul Comeau, Yvonne Comeau and Christian Comeau and his wife, Melissa. He has nine grandchildren, Andrew Terwilliger and his wife, Kate, Robert and Scott Durocher, Daniel and Dina Stickles, Christina Comeau, Christopher, Timothy and Eva Comeau, and great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Terwilliger. Bob also leaves his adopted grandson, Pete Regan and a host of many, many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by sisters, Marjorie, Agnes, Sylvia, Mary, Clara and Martha; brothers, John, George and Arthur.
He is survived by sisters, Diane Shattuck and Johanna Kuhlmann, both of Las Vegas, NV.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 18 from 5-9 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, Inc., 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush, NY.
