Muriel Comfort Muriel Comfort, a longtime resident of Thompson Ridge, entered into rest on Monday, October 23, 2006 at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, N.Y. She was 92. The daughter of William Comfort and Grace Williamson Comfort, she was born October 10, 1914 in the Town of Crawford, N.Y. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Muriel was a nurse during World War II. A Registered Nurse, she retired from Cumberland Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was also a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Thompson Ridge. Survivors include nieces and nephews: Elsie Johnson of Thompson Ridge, Betty Moorhead of Pine Bush, Ray Rumpf of Maybrook, Ethel Melhuish of Pennsylvania, Evelyn Kempf of New Jersey, Emmet Comfort of Alaska, Marjorie Corbett of Pennsylvania, and Robert Comfort of California; and several grand nieces and nephews, as well as several great grand nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2006 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, Inc., 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush, N.Y. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 27 at 11 a.m. at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Thompson Ridge, N.Y., with Pastor Robin Hogle officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Brick Church Cemetery, Montgomery, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, 1 Sunrise Lane, Newburgh, NY 12550.
