Obituary of Violet Lennon

Violet Lennon Pine Bush, NY March 14, 1924-June 16, 2013 Violet Lennon entered into rest peacefully on June 16, 2013, with her family by her side. She was a much-loved mom, grandma, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. She was born in New York City on March 14, 1924, to Genia Dowling. Violet was a long-time resident of Rockland County before moving to Elant of Goshen. She worked for New York State Group Homes where she cared for many children. She loved to sing and dance to all genres of music and often made up her own songs to pass the time. She loved entertaining her grandchildren and spending time with her family. One of her favorite pastimes was singing along while watching classic musicals. Violet was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward, mother Genia Dowling, brother John Dowling, great-grandson Jason Barrows, and granddaughter Diane Thayer. She is survived by her sister Anne Duffell of New York City, her children Patricia Murphy of Hawaii, Edward Lennon and his wife Yrasis of Commack, LI, Nancy Thayer and her husband Robert of Pine Bush, NY, Brian Lennon of Pearl River, NY, Diane Banta and her husband Roger of Nanuet, NY, Christopher Lennon and his wife Jane of Warwick, NY, her 20 grandchildren, Joseph, William, Casey, Carlos, Alex, Stephanie, Edward Jr., Kimberlee, Cheryl Ann, Robert Jr., John, Brian Jr., Craig, Heather, Roger, Jenna, Max, Sarah, Bridget, and Elizabeth, her 15 great-grandchildren, Orion, Sonny, Clay, Luna, Edward, Michael, Emma, Allison, Zachary, John Jr., Eric, Nicole, Phillip, Sean, Tamara, and her 8 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. You are our sunshine, Mom and we love and miss you very much! Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 18, 2013 from 5-8pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday June 19, 2013 at 11am at the Church of the Infant Saviour, Pine Bush NY. Burial will take place in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
