Vincent "Jimmy" Lorubbio
Vincent "Jimmy" LoRubbio, a longtime resident of the area, died Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus in Middletown, N.Y. He was 86.
The son of Antonio and Angelina LoRubbio, he was born June 25, 1920 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Jimmy was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He retired as a Long Shoreman for the Brooklyn Piers.
He was a member of G. Paul Bettinger Post #1308 American Legion in Pine Bush; member of the Church of the Infant Saviour, Pine Bush; member of Walker Valley Senior Citizens and Pine Bush Senior Citizens, and a former member of AARP of New Paltz, N.Y.
A family statement reads: "Jimmy's greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. Rest in peace, Grampy. We know you're where you want to be - with Grammy in Heaven. We'll keep you in our hearts all the days of our lives. Watch over us until we meet again."
Survivors include his loving son, James LoRubbio and his wife, Tina, of Pine Bush; beloved grandchildren: James, Christopher and Stephanie LoRubbio, all of Pine Bush; loving brothers, Anthony and his wife, Rosemarie of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Sal and his wife, Grace of Brooklyn, N.Y.; loving sisters, Lillian Laperuta of Cranford, N.J., and Dorothy Paulas of Cranford, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the widower of the late Angelina Riccardi LoRubbio, who died January 6, 2004 after 57 years of marriage.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, Inc., 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush, N.Y.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 14 at 10 a.m. at Church of the Infant Saviour, Route 302 in Pine Bush, with Father Kevin Gallagher officiating. Burial will be next to his beloved wife in New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush, N.Y.
Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Infant Saviour Building Fund, 22 Holland Ave., Pine Bush, NY 12566.
