Parathema “Helen” Murphy, a former resident of the area, passed away on April 21, 2010 in North Carolina. She was 74. Helen was born on September 1, 1935 in North Carolina. She moved to New York in 1958 and later returned to her home state, North Carolina, in 1992. She is survived by her daughter Teresa Leon and her husband Robert of California, sons Joe Murphy of Walker Valley, Robert Murphy of Pine Bush, and Albert Murphy and his wife Erika of Walker Valley. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Helen is predeceased by her parents, as well as her husband Joe Murphy.
